The whole point of a advert would be to promote a product/service through the use of media. The reason many business are making adverts are so the customers/audiences are able to realize the products which this business sell. The use of advert is use to persuade the audience to buy the product. To create a advert, there are many different types of strategies.
Within children adverts the use of animation is important, as it would engage the audience to the product. the use of animation is used as its more of a childish nature and the characters used would allow the children to be more interested in the advert. Yet also how children are very demanding, when the business start to use animation/cartoon characters which are known, the children would want the product as their favorite cartoon character is based upon it. When there are other adverts for children such as toys or yoghurts, the type of characters used are white middle class families, as they are normally classed as the perfect family. The reason the business/producer would use this type of stereotypism is so that the audience would think that if they buy the product that they would be like the family which is presented to them. The producer would do this for that specific ideology of perfect family. Teenagers adverts would vary as they would be more based on SIM card adverts, clothing, fashion retails and studies. The reason being as those topic are mainly the main topics and products which teenagers are able to afford and are interested in. The use of language would also be more informal, such as the Phone4U adverts they have slang and catchy slogans which would allow the audience to mesmerize. Another type adverts would be charity adverts, these are more emotional and based upon a more sympathetic and empathetic role. The producers would use young kids, mainly the ones who live in 3rd world countries and their ethnics would be mainly Asian or Black Africans.
Narrative
The base of a narrative advert is that its based upon a story or creates a story which the audience can relate to or for the producer to get the point of the product across. Within this section i will be evaluating liner narratives with examples. Liner narrative adverts are adverts which have a beginning, middle and end so that it has a specific point of the advert. Most liner narratives would be used so that they are reliable and so that the audience can understand the just of the product.
Introduction:
within this video, i will be analysing the different types of structure and strategies used within it the video. As this is a narrative type of structure, the reason why renault used this structure was so that they can bring up that ideology of a family and the car changing with them. The colours used are imporant and it resembles
This video is an example of a type of liner narrative.
Non- liner Narratives
Non liner narratives adverts are adverts which have a story however they don't have a logical order. This indicates, that the advert would be setting out a specific type of message, however the story they are conducting within their advert would be non-liner and the story which they made wouldn't be at a logical order. The advantage of a non-liner advert is that they are unique and can be used to make any type of purpose or business 'catch phrase' more interesting. An example would be the guiness evolution advert, as known to have a pint of Guinness is long, and you would have to wait for it; in a long period of time, the advert explains how waiting for the drink would be worth it other then the customer wanting to get the other cheap and quick drinks.
The advert above, explains how evolution was created and the whole scientific measurements of evolution, it shows that these people who have been going through this cycle, was waiting for this specific drink to be maCGIde for them. So that explains the whole 'unique' idea of evolution being made and used.
Realist adverts
These advantages are combined with more of a realist atmosphere and scenario. Realist adverts are used so that the audience can relate to the advert, they are more sympathic and empathic scenarios, the reason realist adverts use more emotional scenario's is so that the audience can relate to the issue and so that the customers are able to want from the advert. However there are other realist adverts such as on-line shopping, supermarket business advertising their products, or even Colgate a well known realist adverts. Realistic adverts combine more of a logical issue, they would be mainly selling at products we do in need in life, for example ASDA adverts, we may need products from that store in order to live.
This advert above is an example of realist adverts. As they explain the compensation the people can take, the scenario they have used is realistic and would allow the audience to engage with the advert.
Anti- realist
Non realist adverts are adverts which are not realistic, this indicates either they are animated or have scenario's which isn't realistic. Non realist adverts are more fantasy based adverts this indicates that these adverts use a more different and non realistic things to adjust at their whole point of the advert.
As within this advert, it has women who are angels, which are used to describe the type of people that these people would attract if they use this product. These non realistic adverts are used to get the audience more interested in the advert.
Animation
Animation adverts are adverts which use non realistic elements such as cartoon and CGI. The use of animation is used so that the producers allows the adulters to express thier 'inner child' this importance of this, is so that the producer allows the audience to think more forward to the whole idea of the advert.
The Coco Pops adverts allows the audience to have their inner child be represented. The use of animation allows the customers to enjoy the production. This advert is mainly aimed at childern, as this advertisment is a product for childern. The charactor used, is well known and his known for this product, so havin this character within this product would get the childerns attention. As the childern would want to have the charatcteristics and adventures that these charactors wihtin this advert have. So this advert allows the target to be able to feeel as if they would be able to do these types of activities.
Documentary:
Within this advert/documentary its allows the audience to be able to see the turnover which dominos have made when they have seen all these negative comments from the consumers. Within this advert it allows the audience to be able to see the change which Domino's habe made when they seen all these types of conflicts within social media websites. This advert also allows the consumer to engage with the lifes of the workers within Domino's, as this would help the audience to be able to see the hard work these people are adding when they are working and providing a service for them.
The use of documentary adverts are so that the advert is able to send a effective communication within the audience being able to convey a social relevant message about the matter in hand. Also within documentary adverts, it mainly a persons life being exposed within the piece of media, the advantage of this is so that the audience are able to know more about the business or the products they make, as for example within an this advert the main aim is so that the business allows to show the audience that they have changed their ways on the way they delivery their products, but also on how the product is made, so within this documentary advert and all other documentary adverts it allows the business to send out relevant information about their enterprise.
Celebrity Endorsement
Celebrity endorsement is when the advert use celebrities or famous people within their adverts. The purpose of the advert having these types of people within their adverts is so that the audience pay more attention to the advert, but also as people would think that they would be have the skills and characteristics as this celebrity, that indicates when products such as Nike make a brand, they would use celebrities to persuade the customers to buy the product. For example one of their products are named after a famous basketball player "Michael Jordan" he is well known for playing basketball at the greatest skills and talents, so naming the product after him would mean that the product would have the same characteristics and skills as this celebrity, as then people would buy it because they believe that if they buy the product, they know that this celebrity uses it, so as they want to be the celebs, they would want what the celebrity has.
Within this advert, its advertising a game "Dance centre 3". Within this advert, they have many people dancing and dancing against each other, they have used "Usher" as a celebrity endorsement, as he is known for dancing having skills when he dances. So using him in this advert would mean that when the audience play this game, they are able to move like usher, have the skills of usher and be able to enjoy dancing like he does. So using him as an celebrity endorsement persuades the consumers to buy the product.
Talking Heads
Talking heads is a way of using the people in the advert as ordinary people, who the audience can relate to because the shot within the camera is in the same angel, so this indicates that within the advert it looks like the person is talking direct to that consumer. Its normally a person who is trying to buy a product, so they speak towards the camera to make it look like that they talking straight to the consumer and trying to summarise whether they should buy a product or not. However there are talking heads adverts where the person speaks directly to the camera but about a company or an enterprise for example in ASDA, the employees speak directly to the camera explaining all the good things about this enterprise.
Within this advert the main point is that this person is talking about a one of the products which the business sells, he speaks more in depth about the product and how buying this product would affect the consumers. As you can see within the advert, the main is describing the features of the product, yet directly to the audience, as if they having a one to one type of conversations. ASDA used this type of advert, so that they are able to have a demand within that specific product, this indicates that they would able increase their sales within these types of products.
Stand Alone Series
A stand alone advert is an advert which is made within a long period of time, so this indicates that this advert would take time and more plan and influence was added to the production, these types of adverts are very strong, as they would keep the audience attention, yet also it allows the audience to remember the production very easily. A series is a on going type of drama, so within an advert, it would be an on going advert which would be within a long period of time, yet it changes every week or every month. The reason for stand alone series is so that the audience are able to memorise the company/product, yet also it helps the business to keep the audience attention. However the disadvantage about stand alone series is that they are very hard to produce as they take time to make, but also a lot of investment would be taken as they would have to spend lots of income within the production.
BT broadband advert is a well known advert, as it started off with a boy who was moving out of his house for university, so the journey carries on, as there is lots of different types of events happening within this series advert. The purpose of the advert having this is so that BT are able to show the types of broadband services they have, and how people can use them within their ordinary lives.
